Message From The Pastor
"I Lift Up My Eyes to the Mountains"
Psalm 121 is a family favorite. Since I was a little girl, I have always looked up to the hills and mountain peaks to turn myself towards the divine. The image of Jesus, James, and Peter on the mountain top experiencing the presence of God has been a lasting image of God's realm (Matthew 17:1-9). The awe of God's created world is more tangible from the mountain top. I've not witnessed the same as Jesus, James, and Peter, yet, each time I climb or perch myself to take in the mountain view, I usually gain perspective on myself or my life down in the valley. The valley is where we spend most of our time. Perhaps the Psalm is really asking us to find peace at the mountain top so that we have courage to seek the face of God in the deepest valleys we walk. For God is in our midst, in all places, in all times.
"The Lord will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."
