Christian Education at Maple Street Church
We welcome seekers and inquirers. The diverse experiences and questions of new people strengthen us and keep us alive and fresh.
We desire to provide learning settings so that adults, youth and children can discover how to be disciples, learn about the historic Christian faith through the Bible and tradition, and see the world in light of the Gospel. We desire to provide opportunities to develop Christian fellowship and lasting friendships. We desire to provide settings for Christian service where the pure flame of selflessness, which burns within each of us, can give, serve and love.
To this end the Christian Education Program of the Maple Street Church of Danvers offers a dynamic church school program for children, diverse and interesting adult education opportunities provided by clergy and lay persons, as well as intergenerational events such as Family Worship Services, book fairs, family programs, a pool party, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner, Pasta Night, the Christmas Pageant, Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long, Advent Workshop, Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts, Rally Day, Church School Open House, Artist Series, and Lenten programs.
All children are received warmly in the Worship service. They begin in Worship on Sunday morning with their families and leave for their classes at the conclusion of the “time for children”. In our Church School, we welcome children to a caring community where they develop special friendships with peers and teachers as they learn from the scripture. Dramatic play, art and games are all part of the classroom experience. Children’s chapel services offer music and dramatic interpretations of scripture.
We also invite adults to participate in adult education programs designed to meet spiritual needs and to explore current issues. These programs offer opportunities to enrich faith and to strengthen friendships within the church community.
Wherever you find yourself on your faith journey; just beginning, far along, or somewhere in between, we invite you to explore and grow in your faith with us.
Friends, Faith, and Fun at Maple Street A special group for younger children
FFFAMS – short for Friends, Faith, & Fun At Maple Street – is our special group for children ages 4 through grade one. This program is offered on two consecutive Thursday afternoons each month from 3:30 to 4:30. At the center of each gathering is a Bible story, with songs, activities, and games planned around that theme. We also provide time for the children to form and enjoy friendships with each other and share a snack together. In planning we use many of the same Bible stories and songs that are front and center in each First Sunday worship service. We hope the children's recognition of these stories and the songs they learn in FFFAMS will build their enjoyment and connection to worship at each First Sunday service. Dates for our fall sessions are October 13 and 20, November 3 and 10, and December 1 and 8. All children ages 4 through grade one are invited and welcome to be a part of FFFAMS.
