The Whole World In Our Hands
I have great memories of singing with my family, around the table, in the car and with friends at summer camp. "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" was one of the greats in the playlist of childhood. Etched on our hearts is the image of a God who holds us all; the wind and the rain, the little tiny babies, brothers and sisters, you and me. The image of hands holding the planet, this awesome created world, is also an indelible image especially when we remember we are partners with God. Our hands, our feet, our bodies as God's people in tandem with earth, sky, and every living creature. We pray for God's strength to help us be stewards of the planet.
Loving and gracious God,
You are a God of Creation.
Create in me a faithful steward of your world,
showing me opportunities to make a difference,
that I may live with respect in your Creation.
You are a God of Incarnation.
Make me your heart and your mind,
equipping me to work for change.
You are a God of Resurrection.
Help me see new ways and new hope,
planting in me the seeds of
restoration and renewal.
God of Creation, Incarnation, and Resurrection,
help me go gently in this fragile world.
Amen.
